The following are updates on development projects in the Olney town center:
- Posted 8/2/11:
- Olney's Renovated Safeway - Projected Reopening - Fall 2011
- An additional sign and a revised sign reflected in a revised signage plan submitted to the Mongtgomery County's Sign Review Board in April 2011. A "Beer and Wine" was added to advertise that the store will now sell beer and wine, having transferred their liquor license to the Olney store from the Cloverly store.

Fair Hill Shops, formerly Olney Town Shopping Center, is getting a face lift and some new tenants. New tenants to date include:
- Baskin & Robbins Ice Cream Store
- GrillmarX Steakhouse & Raw Bar - Opened August 1, 2011
- Harris Teeter Food Market
- Panera Bread Bakery-Cafe
- The Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grill
